About Auckland Manukau Dressage Group

The Auckland Dressage Group, now the Auckland Manukau Dressage Group, was formed in 1977 to organize and promote Dressage in
the Auckland area. Our committee is elected at our May Annual General meeting and is active year round, meeting at the Pakuranga Hunt
Kennels in Karaka on the third Monday of each month at 8.00 pm. These meetings are open for all members to attend. We have a
delegate to the New Zealand Dressage Committee who reports back to our meetings on the Dressage scene in New Zealand.

We are an active, well organized group of around 170 members.
What do we do?

Group competitions and club days are held at Clevedon Showgrounds, Monument Road Clevedon where we have a 100m x 80m all weather arena, clubrooms and 70 yards (including 20 covered yards).

We have a spring series of two one-day competitions in October/November and a three day Auckland Dressage Championship Show in December. The championship show includes qualifying classes for the New Zealand Dressage Challenge Accumulators, Musical Freestyle challenge Accumulators and Horse of theYear Show.

We run a summer/autumn series of four days in February, March, April and May. These are all run under  Equestrian Sports NZ Rules, riders must be members of the ESNZ and horses must be registered for Dressage.

We also do run non-graded, training/schooling classes for horses and ponies at most of our competition days, as an introduction to dressage and hold winter schooling competitions which are open to all.

We hold club days most Sundays during winter where local judges and trainers are available to help club members (or prospective club members).

The group is also involved in arranging clinics and training for local dressage judges as well as setting up a system to mentor new judges.

We have in the past run the Dressage section at the Royal Easter Show, hosted the NZ Dressage Championships, North Island Dressage Championships and the FEI International Samsung Dressage Competition.
